MDCAT Syllabus 2026 - Complete PMDC Subject-Wise Guide
Your definitive guide to the complete MDCAT 2026 syllabus as prescribed by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC), with chapter-wise topics, weightage analysis and expert study tips.
What is MDCAT?
The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is Pakistan's national-level entrance examination for admission to medical and dental colleges across the country. Conducted annually by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC), the MDCAT is mandatory for every student seeking admission to MBBS, BDS and allied health sciences programs in both public and private medical institutions throughout Pakistan.
The MDCAT 2026 exam consists of 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be completed in 3 hours and 30 minutes (210 minutes). The exam follows a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, with all questions answered on a computer screen at designated PMDC test centers. The marking scheme awards +1 mark for each correct answer and 0 marks for incorrect or unanswered questions — there is no negative marking, so students should attempt every question.
To be eligible for MDCAT 2026, students must have completed their FSc Pre-Medical (or equivalent) with a minimum of 60% marks. The exam is conducted entirely in English. The five subjects tested are Biology (45%), Chemistry (25%), Physics (20%), English (5%) and the new Logical Reasoning section (5%), with questions drawn from the FSc Pre-Medical curriculum as prescribed by PMDC. Understanding the complete syllabus and its chapter-wise distribution is the first step toward effective MDCAT 2026 preparation.
Important update for 2026: the Health Minister has confirmed that MDCAT 2026 will be conducted across Pakistan on Sunday, 16 August 2026. Educational boards (including AJK and Cambridge) will conclude examinations by 20 July 2026, giving students roughly four weeks of focused MDCAT preparation between the two.
Official PMDC notification: the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council has notified all concerned that the MDCAT curriculum / syllabus-2025 will be applicable for the MDCAT-2026. In other words, the chapter-wise topics, weightages and 180-MCQ pattern published for MDCAT 2025 remain in force for the 16 August 2026 exam. For more details visit pmdc.pk. The full syllabus below is fully aligned with that 2025 curriculum and is ready for MDCAT 2026 use.
